Ruth A. Keenan

A resident of the Cortland area since the 1980’s, Ruth was born and raised in New Jersey, retiring as the Human Resources Director for Macy’s in Newark, NJ.

She loved her family, animals, music and traveling, and brought so much love and joy to this world, making friends, laughter and memories everywhere she went and in everything that she did.

Surviving is her sister, Shirley Foor of Concord, NC; four nieces, Jodi Barner-Nageotte and Holly Barner of Cortland; Cathy Ports of Oklahoma and Karen Barker of California; nephews, John Barner of Tennessee; Ken Barker of Albany; many loving great-nieces and nephews and her dear friend Joan Warwick of Florida.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Keenan in 2007; two sisters, Sally Barner and Carol Culver and three brothers, Robert, Richard and Benjamin Starbird.

Her family would like to thank entire staff of the CRNRC, especially Cedar Run, for their loving care of Ruth over the last four years, the home health aides that were a vital part of Ruth’s home care and Steve “Chris” Johnson for his love and support.

In keeping with Ruth’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services.
