James Martin Moesch (61) was called to the Lord on May 2, 2012 after a lengthy illness. He was born in Chicago Illinois, son of the late Robert Ellis and Delores (Doe) Margareth Moesch. He began his Air Force career with his first overseas tour at Baha A.F.B. in Okinawa, Japan. During his 12 years of service in the U.S. Air Force, he met and married his wife of (39) years, Sara (Hansen) Moesch, after a U.S.A.F. Military jet crashed in her small hometown in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
After marrying his wife, Sara, he was then stationed in Taipei, Taiwan, China for the first two years of their marriage. He brought world travel to her life. He enjoyed learning the Chinese language, embraced their customs, and enjoyed bargaining in the local markets. He formed many friendships with his Chinese neighbors, merchants, and worked side by side with the Chinese Military. He then was assigned on an isolated tour in Osan, Air Force Base, Korea. After finishing his tour in Korea, he chose to be stationed at the Homestead Air Force Base in Florida. This is where they bought their first home and began their family.
Florida afforded him the indulgence of his passion for fishing and navigating the immense canal systems common to Florida searching for his next “BIG FISH.” After his sons were born, he passed on his passion, knowledge, and love of fishing to them by spending his leisure time teaching them the fine art of “CATCHING THE BIG ONE!” His other interests included archery, guns, knives, photography, golf and playing musical instruments like the harmonica, guitar, and organ. His wit, humor, and storytelling ability was legendary among those who knew him and each have a “Jim Story” to share. His humorous nature was often expressed in various “pranks” he played on those around him. He had a knack for turning seemingly everyday occurrences and situations into fits of laughter to those around him. His love of family was a forefront in his life and was not limited to his immediate family, but extended to his many adored nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He would often take many of them fishing, on adventures, or tell them stories. He loved children regardless of relation or how many were in his presence. His playful spirit, humor, and pranks will be missed by many. He will also be sadly missed by his grandchildren who kept him young at heart. They will miss climbing on Grandpa like a jungle gym, bath time, bedtime, books, and the stories he would act out for them.
Upon completing twelve years in the Air Force, he was then employed at the M.C.I. Miami. He worked for the Federal Bureau of Prisons for over nineteen years before retiring. He is survived by his loving wife, Sara (Hansen) Moesch, his two sons James Martin Jr. (Rochelle) Moesch and Nathan Michael Moesch, four grandchildren Nicole, James III, Lauren, and Jonathan; Siblings Robert (Michele) Moesch, Charles (Kimiyo) Moesch, Nicholas (Camille) Moesch, Marian (Robert) Zink, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews whom he adored. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Daniel and David Moesch.
