The daughter of Andrew Anderson McAnally and Ora Sims McAnally, Aggie was the youngest of four children, born in Tremont, Mississippi, raised in Red Bay, Alabama, and moved to Birmingham to attend Massey Business School. Her career began at Birmingham Trust National Bank, which became SouthTrust Bank. Aggie retired as a Commercial Operations Officer in the Commercial Loan Department after almost 40 years with the Bank.
After moving to Birmingham, she met and married William Thomas “Bill” Myers. They were married 56 years until his death in 2001.
Aggie taught Sunday School and sang in the choir as a member of Glen Iris Baptist Church before coming to Dawson Memorial Baptist Church in 1961. She was a very active member of the Dawson Family of Faith and loved her church. Of all her many ministries there, her greatest joy was her 50 years of teaching a ladies’ Sunday School class, leading until she was 90 years old.
Aggie is survived by her daughter, Sandra Myers Rives (James V., III), grandchildren James Vell Rives, IV (Carmen), of Arlington, Virginia, Susanne Myers Rives of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and great-grandchildren Evelyn Joy Rives and Albert John Rives, both of Arlington, Virginia.
A memorial service will be held at Dawson Baptist Church at 1:00 PM on Friday, August 19, 2022. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to the Dawson Memorial Baptist Church building fund, or to a favorite charity.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.ridoutsvalleychapel.com for the Myers family.
