He is survived by daughters Jeannie Harrison and Stevie Butts, a sister Gayle Parks, a brother, son in law Scott Harrison, brother in law Bill Parks and sister in law Rosalind Butts. Growing up in East Lake he attended Banks High School and Jacksonville State University. A Veteran, he served a tour of duty in the Vietnam War as a medical technician. After service he graduated from the University of Alabama in Birmingham School of Medicine. In addition to his MD degree he earned a PHD in Behavioral Science from UAB School of Public Health. A service celebrating Bert's life will be Thursday, November 30th, at 6 pm at the Southside Baptist Church Birmingham, Alabama. Following the service there will be a reception for friends and family to remember Bert.
