Alexander David Stanton, 22, passed away on December 21, 2013. He courageously fought and survived a rare form of cancer but ultimately lost an ensuing battle with leukemia. Alexander was born in Alexandria, VA and grew up in Vestavia Hills, AL. He graduated from Vestavia Hills High School in 2009 and was an Honors student at the University of Alabama studying chemical engineering. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Richard and Ursula Arnold (Germany) and uncle Kinney Stanton. He is survived by his parents Clyde Stanton and Regina Arnold-Stanton, brother Michael, grandparents W.C. and Sara Stanton, uncles David and Hugh (Jennie) Stanton, and Wolfgang (Annelie) Arnold (Germany) and several cousins. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends who knew him as Xander. A service celebrating his life will be held at Shades Valley Lutheran Church on Monday, December 30, 2013. Visitation will be at 10:00 am followed by the service at 11:00 am. Donations in his memory may be made to the Alabama Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children’s of Alabama or to the National Marrow Donor Program, Be The Match.
