

Alice Lewallen, 70, of Birmingham, Alabama, died 4 April 2024, from complications caused by a stroke. There will be a service of Thanksgiving and Witness to the Resurrection on Friday, the 12th, at 11:00AM, at Altadena Valley Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, Alabama. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 AM until 10:50 AM.
Alice was born in Columbia, Mississippi, and was raised in Hattiesburg. She attended Belhaven College, in Jackson, Mississippi, graduating in 1975. After graduation, she was the Director of Christian Education at First Presbyterian Church in Dothan, Alabama. It was there that she met her husband, Lieutenant Eric “Ric” Lewallen, USAF. They were married on 13 November 1976, and moved to Anchorage, Alaska. After 19 moves in 29 years, Alice and Ric moved to Birmingham, Alabama, where they have lived for 18 years.
Alice lived her faith and loved people wherever she lived. The last 16 years, she served as a volunteer curriculum developer, facilitator, and teacher for the Wellspring Group (www.wellspringgroup.org). The impact of her life was literally felt worldwide. In all of her homes, hospitality was the watchword. When you entered her home, you knew you were welcome. She was an accomplished chef and you were always going to eat well.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Mary Beasley.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Ric Lewallen, her sister Harriet Beall, her daughter Elizabeth Landry, her son Clay Lewallen, and three grandchildren, Hattie, Noah, and Rowan Landry.
