Allen Mealer

Allen Mealer, 73, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away on October 13, 2026. Born December 11, 1952, Allen will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection by all who had the privilege to know him.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Sue Mealer, and his husband, Emmett Wright.

A man of many talents and interests, Allen’s life was anchored by what mattered most to him—his family. Time spent with those he loved brought him genuine happiness, and the memories shared with him will remain a treasured part of his legacy.

In his professional life, Allen served as a registered nurse, bringing steady care and compassion to his patients. Beyond his work in nursing, Allen expressed his creativity with remarkable skill—making and selling hand blown glass jewelry and creating beautiful scarves on his loom. These pursuits reflected a thoughtful, patient artistry that those close to Allen came to know and admire.

Allen is survived by Curtis Mealer (Barbara), Karen Williams, and Linda Bearden (Jimmy).

He is also survived by nieces and nephews: Gina Mealer, Beth Bostwick, Jessica Williams, Josh Sewell, Daniel Sewell, Heather Rice, Johnny Powers, Michael Powers.

Great nieces and nephews include: Keri Robinson, Bradley Bostwick, Conner Bostwick, Dylan Powers, Aaliyah Powers, Addison Sewell, Ava Sewell, Jacob Sewell, Raylan Sewell, Lorin Rice, Sydney Rice.

Great-great nieces and nephews include: Daxton Robinson and Korigan Robinson.
