

Arnold P. Avery, Jr. age 68, passed away peacefully at his home on April 26th, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cecil Berry Avery, his son Robert Bradford Avery (Katie), his daughter Suzanne Avery Chapman (Mark), grandchildren Pierson Avery, Collier Avery, Meg Chapman, and Ann Avery Chapman, his sister Mary Sue Durant and numerous other family and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Nell Avery and his sister Margaret Ann Crawford.
Arnold was born and raised in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and graduated from Tuscaloosa High School in 1967. He then attended The University of Alabama where he earned his B.S. degree in marketing and was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He was also a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa. Arnold began his successful banking career in Birmingham, Alabama, later moving to Tuscaloosa where he concluded his banking career. Affectionately known by all who knew him as Big A, Arnold had a lively and unique sense of humor and could make anyone in his presence laugh. He loved spending time with his family in the outdoors and at the beach. We love you Big A and we will miss you dearly.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 30th at 2:00 pm in the sanctuary of Mountain Brook Baptist Church, 3631 Montevallo Road Birmingham, AL 35213. Memorials can be made to the charity of your choice.
