Barbara "Babs" Simpson

Babs was preceded in death by her husband Morton Philips Simpson, and is survived by her son Blair Morton Simpson (Cassandra) and her two sisters, Kitty Laney Chew (Lanier) and Lemoyne Laney Schuler, niece Katherine Chew Taylor and nephews David Lanier Chew and Bill Schuler Jr.

Babs was an artist all of her life, and a Realtor for nearly thirty years. She was a founder of both the City Stages and Birmingham Jam music festivals, and was involved with community charities including the Service Guild of Birmingham, Junior Board of the Birmingham Music Club, and many others. She had a joy for life, was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

A private service for the family will be held at Elmwood Cemetery on Monday April 3rd, followed by a public service at Independent Presbyterian Church at 2 PM.

In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to the Alzheimer's Association Alabama Chapter.
