Barton Donaldson

Barton Anthony Donaldson, 78, of Vestavia Hills, Alabama, passed away on January 9, 2024 while surrounded by his loved ones. Bart was born on April 1, 1945 in Birmingham to Ruel and Whittie Donaldson. He was raised in Talladega and received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Auburn University.

Bart worked in banking and spent the majority of his career in the Atlanta area, where he raised his family. He later moved to Birmingham to be closer to his children and grandchildren.

Bart’s focus in life was on his faith and his family, He was a member of Cahaba Heights United Methodist Church. Bart loved his Lord, church, family, friends, animals, Auburn football and sharing a good laugh. His daughter Ashley and son-in-law David Downs, his daughter Stephanie Donaldson, and his grandchildren Harris and Katherine Downs will miss him and his humor greatly.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 10 until 11 am on Monday, January 15th at Cahaba Heights United Methodist, with the service immediately following. He will be laid to rest in Pine Hill Cemetery in Talladega following the service.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Cahaba Heights United Methodist Church or the Cancer Research Institute.
