Sara Beth Kirkland Ward, age 63 of Mountain Brook, Alabama, passed away on December 28, 2015. She was born August 9, 1952 in Columbia, South Carolina to John Ware Kirkland, Jr. and Frances Renfroe Kirkland and moved to Alabama as a young child. She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, James Alto Ward, III, Mother-in-Law, Audrey C. Ward; daughters Sara Ward Culpepper (Steven), Jessica Ward Schniper (Jonathan) and Linda Ward Bennett (Aaron); her grandsons Ethan Alto Schniper, David Lawrence Schniper, Dylan James Culpepper, and Michael Ward Bennett; her brothers, John Kirkland; Mark Kirkland and Harry Kirkland (Jen) and brothers-in-law, Bruce Ward (Beverly) and Robert Ward (Sally), and sisters Minda Martin (Fred); Susan Nash (Steve); Nancy Miller (Steve); Kay Josselyn (Jerry) and sister-in-law Tricia Ward Rowen. She was passionate about teaching exercise class to her "Ladies of the Morning" women's group at Mountain Brook Presbyterian Church. She served as President of Mountain Brook Music and Arts Club and Off-Shoots Garden Club. She also served as head of the Women's Committee of Birmingham Children's Theater and Treasurer of Hermitage Garden Club. Beth loved music, dancing and Alabama Football, but above all else, she loved her family and her friends. Funeral service will be Thursday, December 31 at 11:00 a.m. at Ridout's Valley Chapel with visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alabama Wildlife Federation, Mountain Brook Presbyterian Church or First Church of Christ Scientist of Birmingham.
