Betty and her sorority members were the "adopted sisters" of my fraternity. When she learned that I and a friend were moving to Huntsville after graduating to work at Redstone Arsenal, she informed her mother who promptly offered us room and board. Not only did they take us into their home but essentailly made us members of that wonderful family. The warmth, friendship, heavenly food, introducing us to Huntsville, I could go on and on, really made the transition from Mobile and Auburn very gratifying. I will always cherish the fond memories of the Darnell family, their continuing friendship, support, baby sitting for my family, etc. and thank Betty for making it happen.

Betty, You will always stay with us in our hearts and memories. We've been blessed meeting you - such a wonderful woman. We felt your support, help, and encouragement through all those years that we knew you. You became a part of our life and we will keep memories of you forever.

My condolences to Betty's family and many friends. Betty was my life-line when I came to Birmingham as a Rotary Scholar in 1985. She was the one who took care of all the practical issues, such as picking me up at the airport and helping me get settled. She enriched my stay with cultural activities, introducing me to many friends, and taking me and other Rotary scholars to lunches, and visits in her cozy home. I hope she knew how much she meant to me, and of my appreciation of all her efforts. May all your great memories of our wonderful Betty be a comfort in your sorrow.

Betty, you always lighted a candle and never cursed the darknes -- even more, the darkness parted whenever you appeared. Thank you for your life!

Thinking of you all at this time. Betty was a remarkable lady who touched so many lives with her generous, loving spirit. She gave of herself to family, friends and strangers in immeasurable ways and we are blessed to have known her. She shared her home, her passions and her ready smile with all who crossed her path and had the unique ability to make each of us feel special. It is that gift for which she will be remembered most.

May fond memories of your mom fill your hearts. Turn to the hearer of prayer for comfort and strength (Psalm 65:2).

She is my American Granny with sweet heart. She was more than my bloody grandmother. She helped me from A to Z living in Birmingham and invited party, lunch, dinner. She drove me to grocery, mall, anywhere I need to go. She took me to Birmingham Orchestra once in a while and we went to travel together. We celebrated birthday together and I still keep gifts she gave me. I love to buy owls for her and still think of her when I see owls.I really enjoyed living in Birmingham with her. I cant even think days in Birmingham without her. Im so blessed to know and meet her and Morrison family.
May God bless her.

We have such fond memories of Betty! As a child, I served as ringbearer in her wedding - even them, the talent was flowing from "Betty June" (and her mom!)with her many abilities. Hope we can make the memorial service - Don and Nancy Bingham - Arkansas
