Betty came from country roots. Early on she lived in a log cabin built by her father. She grew up in a family of 12 children in the small town of Cobb near Durant, Oklahoma, After graduating from high school she soon married the love of her life James Sullivan. Born of this marriage were 2 children--a son Stephen Wayne and a daughter Brenda Kay. Together they would traverse the country moving every couple years as his career took them to ever new locales. Yet each time she managed to move the family and establish the kids in a new school and a new household with ease and grace which was no small feat in itself, She was happiest being a wife and mother and keeping in touch with family and relatives.
Although this didn't leave much spare time for hobbies she did find time to enjoy crafting and painting. She also learned to ski and the art of snowmobiling though she never really adjusted to the often bitter cold of the North.
Her kind and compassionate spirit shined brightly and she loved to make people smile. She enjoyed helping others and always put others needs above her own. Faith has always been dear to her. The family is at peace knowing she is in a far better place resting comfortably in the arms of her Lord.
She is preceded in death by one son (Stephen Wayne), parents (Charles and Leona James), 2 brothers (her twin Billy Joe and Charles Lee James) one sister (Mary M. James), 2 half brothers and 6 half sisters.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years (James Sullivan), one daughter (Brenda K. O'Dazier), two grandsons (Twins Colby and Corey O'Dazier), one granddaughter (Ashleigh O'Dazier) and one great grandson (Blaine O'Dazier).
