Bettye Mason Smith

SMITH, BETTYE M. "MIMI" Betty M. "Mimi" Smith, age 89, of Trussville formerly of Vestavia Hills died on July 15, 2011. Mrs. Smith was a member of First Baptist Church of Birmingham. She was known for her hospitality and her love of entertaining. Mrs. Smith enjoyed teaching Sunday school at Shades Mountain Baptist Church for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Smith and sons, John Mason Smith and William R. Mason. Survivors include daughter, Sue Mason; granddaughters, Sherri Oberding (Michael), Stephanie Godwin and Andrea Mason; grandsons, Austin Godwin and Michael Mason; great grandchildren, Reilly and Will Oberding. Other survivors include daughters in law, Beverly W. Smith and Roxanne Wise; brother, Carl Douglas and sister in law, Nell Mason. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 17, 2011, 3-4 at Ridout's Valley Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 4:00. Burial will be Monday, July 18, 2011 at 11:30 at Highland Memorial Gardens. Services are under vthe direction of Ridout's Valley (879-3401) Homewood, Al.
