

Billie Beasley Winstead, age 90, of Birmingham, Alabama, peacefully departed this life on January 6, 2025. Born on June 10, 1934, in Birmingham, Billie graduated from Samford University and devoted many years to teaching elementary school. After marrying and having children, besides being an avid homemaker, Billie enjoyed volunteering with community projects including the PTA and Red Cross.
A longstanding member of St. Mary’s-On-The-Highlands Episcopal Church, Billie served on the Altar Guild and supported the ministry of Daughters of the King, reflecting her deep faith and commitment to her church community. In addition to her charitable work, she had a passion for music and travel. She also developed a talent for playing bridge, ultimately achieving the esteemed Gold Life Master designation. Billie's vibrant personality was highlighted by her infectious laughter and keen sense of humor, which brought joy to her family and friends.
Billie was the daughter of the late Judge Ingram Vanhoose Beasley and Pearl Howell Beasley. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, John Fayette Winstead. She is survived by her devoted husband, B.R. Winstead Jr.; her daughter, Renee Winstead Taliaferro (John); and her cherished granddaughters, Amy Elizabeth Taliaferro and Halle Danielle Winstead. A private service will be held at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions to the Jimmie Hale Mission or to a charity of your choice.
