Born in 1940 to Walter and Era Cassell in Mena, AR, who preceded him in death. Billy was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he served as a Navy Seabee. After an honorable discharge from the Navy in 1970, he went on to continue his education at North Texas State University and Southern Methodist University where he was elected as the Vice President of his class. He then went on to progress his career, eventually retiring from Southland International as Vice President of Service Operations. Retirement could not keep this man still; known by his family and friends as the hardest worker around, Billy always found a new project to occupy his time.
He is remembered by his family and friends as a loving man with an affinity for classic cars and spoiling his wife of 52 years. He will be dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator.
Billy is survived by his wife, Jewell Cassell and his step children: Deborah Jo Booth and Douglas Mark Pritchett. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and multiple nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, 20 September 2019, viewing at 10:00 AM and service at 11AM at Ridout’s Valley Chapel at 1800 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, AL. Friends are invited to visit with the family immediately following the service at the funeral home.
Billy will be missed by all those who had the privilege to know him.
