Carol Peay Hanna Parker, 74, indeed went to be with Jesus and family that had gone before. She was till the end the “real deal” as a Christian. She was saved watching a Billy Graham crusade many years ago. This plus her love for her family and her desire for all to know Jesus is what she would want everyone to know.
Survived by Michael Parker, husband of 38 years, Harrison C. Parker (Jamie Parker), son; Naomi F. Parker Ledlow (Daniel Ledlow), daughter; four grandchildren, Ian Ledlow, Hudson Ledlow, Braden Ledlow, and Aubree Ledlow.
She was born Carol Peay Hanna September 22, 1946 in Birmingham, AL to Lafayette Randolph Hanna “Rudy” and Sarah Peay Hanna. Her maternal grandparents Charles Head Peay Sr and Sarah Wilson “Baba”, paternal grandparents Lafayette Randolph “Mark” Hanna and Katherine Parrish “Damama” Hanna, sister, Sarah Katherine “Sally” Hanna all preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Shades Valley Highschool, spent one year at Auburn University and transferred to Birmingham to study Art under the direction of Bill Yeager.
She was an accomplished artist who mainly painted in mixed-media and regularly exhibited at Birmingham galleries including the Maralyn Wilson Gallery as well as local events such as Magic City Art Connection and the Bluff Park Art Show. She volunteered at Hargis Christian summer retreat known as “Mrs. Artsy” where she shared her love of art with children. She worked for her uncle, C. Beatty Hanna as a horticulturist where she met a scruffy, skinny Parker boy who she eventually married and became the love of her life.
Loved by family near and far and many long-time friends, she will be missed by all of us.
Visitation will be Friday, September 24, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm with a memorial service to follow at Ridout's Valley Chapel.
