

Carol Jacqueline Thompson of Homewood, AL passed away on November 8, 2013. Jackie was born on August 19,1930 in Stanley County, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Vi Crayton, her brothers Vance and Keith Crayton, and her former husband Rip Thompson. She is survived by her daughter, Dawn(Andy) Wolfe, her son Rhett Thompson, her grandchildren Matthew (Kaylin) Wolfe and Meredith Wolfe, her sister Peggy (Bob) Smith, her brother Jerry (Agnes) Crayton, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and a host of friends locally and in Panama where she spent part of each year with her son.
Jackie graduated from Ridgecrest High school in Stanley County, NC and from the William and Mary School of Nursing. She worked as an RN in labor and delivery at UAB for more than 25 years. Jackie was full of life until the day she died. She was an avid gardener, bridge player, and reader. She enjoyed hiking, canoeing, walking on the beach, cooking and dancing. As an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Jackie belonged to the Cartwright Sunday School Class, the United Methodist Women and participated in many mission outreach programs. A woman of deep faith and compassion, she participated in many medical mission trips to Panama where her son serves as a missionary. Family was the center of her life. She was a loving and caring daughter, sister, mother and grandmother whose hugs were always accompanied by the words “love you to pieces!” She was the light of our lives and spread joy wherever she went.
A memorial service for Mrs. Thompson will be Sunday, November 17, 2013 at 3:30 at Trinity United Methodist Church, there will be a time of visitation from 2:00 PM to 3:15 PM on Sunday at Trinity. Dr. Andrew Wolfe officiating
