Caroline Winston Winters passed away at home in Birmingham, AL. Caroline grew up in Birmingham and lived in Lynchburg, VA, Chapel Hill, NC, Port St. Joe, FL, Jacksonville, FL, and Chattanooga, TN before returning to Birmingham.
Caroline was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Winters, her parents, Verna and George Winston, and her brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her sons George Winters in Huntsville, AL, John Winters in Birmingham, AL, and Richard Winters (Lisa) and granddaughter, Mary Caroline in Chattanooga, TN, as well as her extended family.
Caroline graduated from Phillips High School, Birmingham Southern College in Birmingham, and UNC-Chapel Hill. She loved teaching, reading, and Spanish and enjoyed meeting new people.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Ridout’s Valley Chapel in Homewood, AL, on Sunday, December 18th from 3 until 5 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Elmwood Cemetery on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to First-Centenary United Methodist Church in Chattanooga, TN.
