Carl Jones, age 94, WWII Veteran of the Normandy Invasion ( from Homewood, AL and born in Kingsport, TN) died March 26, 2017. He was retired from Encyclopedia Britannica Corporation; member of the Baptist Church. Graveside service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Ridout's Valley Chapel funeral home. Ridout's Valley Chapel directing. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by wife Catherine (Kitty), son Bobby, sisters Gladys Childress and Odell Edens. Survived by sons Steve and Tim, daughter Carla Williams, grandchildren Yvette Bruno, Amanda Batton (Shannon), Katie Williamson, Patrick Jones (Julie), Wendy Judge, Morgan Thompson, Melissa Webster, Great-grandchildren Grayson Bruno, Ayla Bruno, Bryson Jones, Wyatt Jones and Carter Webster.
