Cassie was born in Bessemer, Alabama, on October 4, 1960, the biological daughter of Doris Wiladean McLeroy. She was adopted at birth by John Dee and Evelyn (Vincent) Farris. She grew up in Hueytown, Alabama next door to her beloved Uncle "Hap" and Aunt Doris Vincent.
Cassie was a graduate of Parsons Private School and attended the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa. As a child, she loved creating her own artwork designing women's clothes. Cassie was orphaned just two years out of high school and struggled to make ends meet during early adulthood. Her Uncle Wilburn "Hap" and Aunt Doris W. Vincent, their descendants and cousins assisted until, through much dedication, she achieved independence. No stranger to hard work, Cassie worked 2 and sometimes 3 jobs for many years.
About 1988 she moved from her family home and former antique store in Tuscaloosa County, moved to Hoover, and, in 1998, was hired as a customer service representative by Blue Cross / Blue Shield of Alabama where she won many accolades for excellent work from her employer and gained new friends. She moved to her current home in Pelham in 2008.
She was preceded in death by her biological mother, adoptive parents, her aunts and uncles, and several cousins. Surviving cousins in many states mourn her loss.
No memorial services are currently planned.
