

Charles Ervin Bottcher, Jr., age 57, passed away July 9, 2017 at his home in Vestavia Hills, Alabama. He was the son of Mary Jim and Charlie Bottcher of Oneonta, Alabama and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Bottcher and the late Mr. and Mrs. J.N. Esslinger. Charles was a devoted father and husband. He was an avid outdoorsman and chef and friend to all he met. Charles graduated from the University of Alabama where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He was a Managing Director at Raymond James and Associates. He was a member of Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church where he served on the Administrative Board. He also was a 32 nd Degree Mason, former little league coach and commissioner of Vestavia Hills baseball, supporter of Birmingham Dance Theater and served on the board of the Vestavia Hills Education Foundation. Charles is survived by his wife of thirty-three years Kelly and four children Chase and wife Grace, John and wife Lauren, Jake and Caroline. He is also survived by his brother Ben Bottcher and wife Diane, sister Jane Ann NeSmith and husband Dalton, and sister Gina Bottcher and husband Duane and many nieces and nephews. His unconditional generosity was only surpassed by the legacy of love he leaves; because to know Chief, was to absolutely fall in love with him. He was the finest husband, a heart stealer, and the greatest father, mentor, and friend. He made this world a finer place because he had a servants heart. His love was an action, and touched the community. His family, friends, and all who knew him celebrate his life, because it was the finest life well lived. He will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held at Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church Thursday, July 13 th at 2pm. The family will receive guests at the church beginning at
noon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
