

Charles Stephens (Charlie) age 92 of Birmingham, passed away on January 14, 2021. He was born on June 7, 1928 to the late Lewis Azar and Elizabeth Saab Stephens. After graduating from Ramsey High School in 1946, he joined the United States Army as part of the 28th Infantry Division and was stationed in Germany. He grew up at St. Elias Maronite Church in Birmingham, where he was baptized and confirmed.
Charlie was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, where he served many years as an usher and was a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree. He retired from Standard Oil and Bridgestone. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, traveling and going to the Lebanese festivals in his free time. He was a long-time member of the Cedars Club. Most of all he enjoyed being with family and friends.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents Lewis and Elizabeth Stephens, his sisters: Eloise Stephens, Martha Zaden (George), Lily Higdon (Bill) and Shirley Sanders (Ronnie). He is survived by his sisters: Delores Wehby , Henrietta Bruner; brother: Azar Lewis Stephens and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 19th at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church beginning at 10 am with the funeral mass following at 11 am. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
