
Charlotte Elmore Conway passed away on June 12, 2022, the day after her 92nd birthday. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mabel Chapman Elmore and her husband, Timothy Michael Conway, and her father Zollie Elmore. Charlotte is survived by her son, Mark L. Jeter III (Chip), step children, Arden Richards, Mike Conway and Pam Nicastro.
Charlotte graduated from Woodlawn High School and subsequently attended Auburn University. She was a member of Phi Mu Sorority. After college Charlotte worked as a secretary at Pure Oil Company in Birmingham and more recently she worked as a legal secretary at Rives, Peterson law firm in Birmingham, from which she retired.
Charlotte was a long time member of Wilson Chapel United Methodist Church, and for a period of time taught Children's Sunday school. At the time of her death, she was a member of Brookwood Baptist Church, and the Faith Sunday school class. Many of her close friends were Brookwood members and Sunday school classmates. Charlotte loved playing bridge and was a member of several bridge groups. She very much enjoyed the fellowship with her bridge partners. Charlotte also loved animals and enjoyed taking care of her many dogs over the years. At the time she passed she had five cats which she loved dearly. Charlotte was an avid reader and read a variety of types of books and magazines. She volunteered for literacy program to teach undeveloped children to read. Charlotte was a member of the Birmingham Republican Women's Club.
Charlotte was a wonderful mother, and was a devoted and generous friend to many. Her son would like to express a very special thanks to the tireless and loving care provided by her caregivers, Celeste Cokely, Melina Stimpson, Jackie Byers and Maria Harper.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Ridout's Valley Chapel from 10:00am to 11:00am , with a service to follow. A private family graveside will be held.
