

Creighton Ernest ("Bud") Johnson, born December 8, 1925, in Thomasville, GA, died in his home April 5, 2017. Bud is a graduate of Ponce de Leon High School and the University of Miami in Miami, FL. In the interim, he served as an airplane mechanic in the Air Force.
Birmingham has been Bud's home for 53 years. He retired as Vice President, Manpower Training and Development, from Southern Life and Health Insurance Company after 41 years of service. He was honored as a Life Docent at the Birmingham Museum of Art and a Life Deacon at Mountain Brook Baptist Church.
Bud was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Mary Lucille McWhirter Johnson. He is survived by his 3 daughters: Judy (Mike) Mason (Birmingham), Nancy ("Poli") Polidoro Hughes (Nashville, TN), and Janice (David) Gray (Hilton Head, SC); 5 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
The graveside service will be at Elwood Cemetery, 11:00a.m., Saturday, April 8, 2017. A celebration of Bud's life will be held at Mountain Brook Baptist Church, 3:00p.m., Saturday, April 29, 2017.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Birmingham Museum of Arts for docent training, Dotson Nelson Bible Class benevolence fund at Mountain Brook Baptist Church, and the School of Fine Arts at Samford University
