David B. Stewart was called home by his Heavenly Father on June 16, 2019. He went peacefully in his home surrounded by his wife and children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Clark and Mary Agnes Stewart, his brother, Earl C. “Sonny” Stewart Jr. and his grandson Cole Stewart. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Paula Stewart, his children Brandon Stewart (Laura) of Alabaster, Kaysie Stewart of Birmingham, Kimberlie Miller (Stephen) of Birmingham; his sister Judy Shrader of Pell City; his grandchildren Colin and Alexandra Stewart, Blake and Brooke (Stewart) Cumbee, , Sarah Grace, Jacob, Hannah and Levi Miller along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was born in Lafayette, Alabama on June 6, 1952 but has lived in Birmingham most of his life. He graduated from Banks High School in 1970, attended UAB and then began his career as a sales engineer with Andress Engineering and Associates. He retired from there after 43 years of loyal service achieving the position as Vice President of Trackmobile Sales. It was his natural ability to develop and maintain close personal relationships with his customers that made him a tremendous success. He was also an avid bass fisherman which led him to create and produce Bassminder a product that was distributed in Bass Pro Shops. He was a pillar of strength to his family and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He loved the Lord, his family, camping, fishing, hunting, riding his harley and ALL things Alaska. He made perfect strangers feel like family with his outgoing personality. His generosity and willingness to help others did not go unnoticed. We are thankful for his life and the influence he had on others. As followers of Christ, we rejoice in knowing that we will one day be together again for all eternity.
We will have a “Celebration of Life” service for him Saturday June 22 at Church of the Highlands Greystone Campus. Visitation will be at 11:00 followed by Service at 12:00. Reception will immediately follow the Service. In lieu of flowers please make donations to American Cancer Society. https://donate3.cancer.org
