
Diane Cooley Black of Birmingham passed away on April 6, 2016, at the age of 74. She was preceded in death by her parents Beamon Cooley, Jr., M.D., and Marcia Wyman Cooley; her brother, Beamon Cooley, III; and son, Duncan Taylor Black, III. Diane is survived by her daughter Anne-Wyman Black, son-in-law David Kachelhofer, M.D., granddaughters Emily Kachelhofer, Sarah Kachelhofer, and Allison Kachelhofer, cherished cousins, and her dog Buddy. Diane graduated from Shades Valley High School where she was a member of the Phi Kappa Nu sorority and the University of Alabama where she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority. She served as director of public relations for Auburn University at Montgomery as well as the Alabama Hospital Association, and was media relations coordinator for Children’s Hospital of Alabama. Before her illness, Diane was house mother for the DKE fraternity at the University of Alabama. A memorial service will be held at St. Mary’s-on-the-Highlands Episcopal Church on Monday, April 11 at 2 p.m., followed by a reception in Randolph Memorial Hall.
