Donald Nelson Arrowood, age 72,, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at the Floyd E. Tutt Fann State Veterans Home in Huntsville, AL. He was born April 29th 1946 in Ashville, North Carolina to Marcus and Edith Arrowood. He was a 1964 graduate of Lee Edwards High School. He joined the U. S. Navy That same year. In 1967, 2 months before he was to be shipped out to Viet Nam, he met his one true love, Judy Alderson and they were married on July 29th, 1967. He served in the Navy for 8 years where he learned to be an electrician. He worked for Southern California Edison for 27 years. Don worked as an electrician during the day and took college courses at night, eventually receiving his degree from Chaffey Community College. He is best known as a gentle. kind, hard working and intelligent Christian man whom loved and cherished his friends and family. In his spare time he loved to fish in his favorite place in the world, Bishop California where he raised his children to love and cherish the outdoors and nature. He also loved to buy and restore old cars. His favorite car was his 1968 Camaro which is fully restored and owned by his sons. Don is survived by his wife Judy Arrowood; his children, Dawn Willett, Donald Arrowood, Jr., David Arrowood and his 3 grandchildren; Edi Arrowood, Donald Arrowood, III and Colton Willett. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Christina Keller and Dorthea Biddix and brother, Mark Arrowood. The family will receive friends on Sunday July 1, 2018, 3:00-4:00 at Ridout's Valley Chapel in Homewood, Al. A celebration f his life will follow at 4:00 in the chapel.
