Don Turnbull was one of,the finest teachers that I had during my residency in Ophthalmology with UAB/Eye Foundation Hospital.  Don donated all of his time and gave us superb lectures in ocular pathology which was his special interest.  Not only was he an exceptionally talented Ophthalmologist and supporter of the Eye Foundation Hospital, he was a highly ethical physician who taught us the compassionate and conscientious care of our patients which I tried to practice every day of the practice of,my profession of Ophthalmology.  My wife Pam and I extend our deepest condolences to,his wonderful wife Anne and his entire family.

person. I remember meeting him at the
Pickwick Club when we were in high school. He loved music. I know that
he will be greatly missed by everyone.

Dear Turnbull Family, I worked with Dr. Turnbull for many years at Callahan Eye Foundation Hospital.  He was a wonder flu man, doctor and instructor of ophthalmology.  He had been retired for many years before I figured out that Mary B who was in my sons class was his granddaughter.  Sorry, I will not be able to attend his service. I had oral surgery yesterday and feel and look like I got hit by a truck.  Anne please hug your sweet mother and give her my love.  Judy Cochran

To the Turnbull family. I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Dr. Turnbull. I worked for him many years ago at the beginning of my medical /ophthalmology office career. I will always remember his funny jokes and his quick wit and his love for his family. I learned a lot working there and made lifetime friends. Prayers for comfort and a peace that passeth all understanding

Dear Turnbulls,  May the Lord bless you with His peace and comfort as you remember Don and mourn the loss of his presence.  We regret that our move to Twin Lakes Retirement community prevents us from making the trip to Birmingham for the memorial service at St. Luke's.  Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all.  We enjoy wonderful memories of Jackson - Turnbull familyholiday feasts and Charles Jackson's calculation that his relationship to Don made Don his "favorite step nephew-in-law." We also remember with pleasure the delicious oyster dressing Don contributed to Thanksgiving dinners.  We truly enjoyed the Jackson - Turnbull  family connection over the years.  What a major part of it Don was, as well as Uncle Doug!  How we miss those dear ones who have gone before us, and find comfort in many happy memories which include you.
