Doris Abney

Doris Abney, age 89 of Vestavia Hills, passed away on September 29, 2013. She was a lifelong member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church. She loved being a volunteer for the Ladies Auxiliary Baptist Montclair where she was a Lifetime member and served for over 17, 000 hours. Mrs. Abney was preceded in death by husbands Hugh M. Alford Jr., and Byron C. Abney, brothers James Dykes and Huey Dykes. She is survived by her son Hugh M. Alford, III (Maria) of Birmingham; daughters Celia Clem (J.C.) of Dana Point, CA and Brenda Lewis (Don) of Miami, FL; sister: Mimi Green (Johnny) of West Palm Beach, Fl; 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Graveside services will be at Elmwood Cemetery on Wednesday, October 2nd at 11:00 a.m. Memorials in memory of Doris Abney may be made to the Birmingham Humane Society.
