

Dot was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Wayne Jackson, her parents Forrest Arthur and Dorothy Simonton Chace and her sister Beverly Anne Chace. She is survived by her daughters, Amelia Anne Jeffery (Robert) and Lisa Chace Jackson of Vestavia Hills, and Dana Leigh Davidson (Mark) of Valrico, Florida and her grandchildren, Jeffrey Chace Davidson, Jackson Chace Jeffery and Reese Elizabeth Jeffery. She is also survived by her nephews Eric Lawrence Jackson (Patricia), Stephen Smith Jackson (Beth), Mark Allen Jackson (Kelli) and David Booth Jackson as well as several beloved cousins.
Dorothy was a graduate of Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, and the University of Tennessee where she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. Dot was the former owner and director of Dorothy Chace School of Dance in Vestavia Hills for many years. After hanging up her ballet shoes, she joined the Greater Birmingham Convention and Visitors Bureau as Director of the Information Center.
A longtime supporter of the arts, Dot was president of the Women’s Committee of Birmingham Children’s Theatre and on the BCT board of directors. Dorothy was also a member of the Ballet Women’s Committee, the Birmingham Southern College Fine Arts Council & Fine Arts Society, Birmingham Music Club, Opera Birmingham, Women’s Committee of the Alabama Symphony, Summerfest Board and Dress Circle Society, Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary, Shades Mountain Music Club, Cherokee Forest Garden Club and Southminster Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of The Club, Inc.
After moving to Lake Martin, Dot became a member and elder of First Presbyterian Church and moderator for the Presbyterian Women of Alexander City. She was the President of the Alexander City Arts Council and the Russell Medical Center Auxiliary, Director of Alabama Associates of Hospital Auxiliaries and President of the Windemere/Windover Garden Club and a member of the Windemere/Windover Owner’s Association. Dot belonged to the Twentieth Century Study Club, the Wednesday Book Club and several Bridge clubs. After returning to Birmingham to live with her daughters, Dot rejoined Southminster Presbyterian Church.
Services will be held Thursday, May 30th, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. followed by a reception in Grace Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southminster Presbyterian Church, 1124 Montgomery Highway S, Vestavia Hills, AL 35216 or online at www.southminsterpcusa.
