Dorothy Ellenberger Parker

Dorothy E. Parker age 95 of Vestavia Hills, AL died Friday, February 5, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 8, 2016 in the Chapel at South Highland Presbyterian Church. A private family burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the church. Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Dr. George S. Parker and sister Mrs. Mae Thurber. She is survived by her daughter Susan P. Weems (Randy) and son James S. Parker (Jodie); grandchildren Amy Vozza (Tyson) Julie Koon (Jon), Andrew Weems and Rebeccca Weems; great grandchildren Rowan and Adeline Vozza, and Elliot, Harvey, and Rosalie Koon; sister Mrs. Maxine Williams (Keith) and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Parker was born in Horatio, PA and was a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania. A longtime member of South Highland Presbyterian Church and the Builders Sunday School Class, she was also a member of the National Society of Arts and Letters, Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary, and the Cosmos Club. The family requests memorials be sent to the South Highland Presbyterian Church or to the Presbyterian Children's Home in Talladega, AL.
