

Born at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham on November 24, 1994, Andrew was the son of Dr. David DeAtkine, Jr. and Dr. Anne Burton DeAtkine.
Andrew graduated from Mountain Brook High School in 2013 and graduated Summa Cum Laude at the University of Alabama in 2017, earning his B.S. degree in Biology. Andrew was then accepted into the UAB School of Medicine and graduated in 2022 where he was a member of the AOA Society and earned his medical degree. He was in his 4th year of Otolaryngology (ENT) residency at the University of South Florida when he passed away.
A man of diverse interests, Andrew loved skateboarding, drawing, all types and genres of music, and played the guitar exceptionally well. He took pride in his profession and worked hard to excel in the care of his patients. Above all, he cared profoundly for his family and friends and had a deep, abiding faith in God. Growing up in Mountain Brook, Andrew attended Cathedral Church of the Advent and was an active member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Tampa, Florida.
Dr. DeAtkine was preceded in death by his grandmother, JoAnn DeAtkine. He is survived by his parents, Dr. David DeAtkine, Jr. and Dr. Anne Burton DeAtkine; sister, Dr. Elizabeth DeAtkine; girlfriend, Natalie Boggiano; and grandparents, Dr. William Burton, Susan Burton, and David DeAtkine, Sr.
Friends are cordially invited to the visitation being held on Monday, the 9th of February, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Cathedral Church of the Advent. Funeral services will commence at 2:00 p.m. with private burial services immediately following at Elmwood Cemetery. Cathedral Church of the Advent is located at 2017 6th Avenue North, Birmingham, Alabama 35203.
