

Earl Ray Davis, Jr. passed peacefully from this life to be with his Lord after a courageous battle with cancer, on November 11, 2025. Earl was born to Earl Davis, Sr. and Mary Wilson Davis, November 2, 1937. After high school, he attained an associate degree in accounting from UAB. He served in the military in the Army Reserves for seven years. He married Frances Ann Evans, the love of his life, for some 69 years.
Earl became a successful financial advisor, a proud member of the Million Dollar Roundtable with Principal Financial Group. He was a gracious philanthropist during his career and beyond, and enjoyed his many years as a member of the Hoover Rotary Club. He served several terms as a member of the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Birmingham, participating in different ministries of the church, as he had done in previous churches throughout his life.
He is survived by his wife Ann, and his daughter Lynda Ytzen As well, he is survived by his grandchildren-- Emily Davis Olson (Zach), LeeAnna Adams Melton (Jacob), Katherine Adams, and David Adams-- Great grandchildren Oliver and Wyatt Olson, Phoebe and Samuel Melton, Marlie Sutherland, Kaylin, Tyler and Millie Adams.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Mrs. Rebecca Lowery , and his son Larry Earl Davis.
A service of remembrance and thanksgiving for his life will be held this coming Saturday, 1 pm, with visitation at 12 noon, at First Baptist Church, Birmingham, with Dr. Jim Cooley and Dr. Larry Michael officiating, Eulogy by nephew Dr. Skip Lowery and Music by Tawana Lowery.
Donations in honor of Earl Davis may be given to the ministries of First Baptist Church, Birmingham, 2209 Lakeshore Drive, Birmingham 35209.
