John was born on the 17th of March, 1942 in Washington, DC. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and graduated from the University of South Carolina Summa Cum Laude. John was married to Marilyn Osborne for 37 years. He was a long time employee of BellSouth, and after retirement, put his energy into multiple volunteer positions–notably Meals on Wheels. As a devoted Chicago Cubs, Indiana Basketball, and South Carolina Gamecocks fan, he knew the thrill of victory, but mostly the pain of defeat.
John is preceded in death by his father Earl John Osborne, Sr. and his mother Mary Freaney Boilek. He is survived by his brothers Tim (Jean) Osborne and Gary Osborne, his sons Patrick (Christine) and Ben (Terri) Osborne and his granddaughters Carson, Livi Cate, and Tatum.
The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church on Friday, March 17th beginning at 3:00 pm with a memorial service following at 4:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Meals on Wheels of Central Alabama, where John found great joy volunteering.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.ridoutsvalleychapel.com for the Osborne family.
