Montreal, Canada, passed away on June 22, 2012. Eileen was born on July 2, 1927 in Sneem, County
Kerry, Ireland, the first of four daughters of John and Julia Curran. She was a resident of Brookdale
University Park at the time of her death where she was known for her gentle spirit and Irish accent.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 31 years, William E. Schnitgen and her
stepson, Dr. Richard D. Schnitgen.
Surviving are her stepdaughters, Gayle (Steve) Stoner of Birmingham and Nancy Schnitgen of Warren,
OH, grandsons Dr. Todd Stoner of Birmingham and Bradley (Ali) Stoner of Atlanta, and greatgranddaughter
Amelia Stoner of Atlanta. Also surviving are sisters Peggy Howard and Loreto Curran of
Montreal and Alice Fleming of Sneem and nephews in Montreal and Sneem.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 2061 Patton Chapel Road at 10:30
a.m. on Friday, July 6. The family will receive friends at the church after the service. Burial for Eileen
and William will be private for the family at the National Cemetery in Montevallo.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity for the benefit of children or
to your favorite charity.
