Elizabeth “Libby” Ann Duncan Mull passed away peacefully on May 30, 2020 at the age of 91. Libby was a native of Homewood where she attended Edgewood Elementary School. She graduated from Phillips High School and attended the University of Alabama where she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority. Later she lived on the lake in Pell City and was a charter member of Pine Harbor Country Club where she and Billy enjoyed playing golf. She lived the last 30 years in Vestavia Hills. Libby was a seamstress and made beautiful clothing for her young daughters. She had a passion for needlepoint and made treasured Christmas stockings for her grandchildren. Libby loved playing bridge with her friends and we were told she was an excellent player. She enjoyed gardening and creating a beautiful yard.
Libby was a member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, past member of Amulets Club, The Club and Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary. Libby was a preschool teacher at All Saints Episcopal Day School, founding director South Highland CDC, and interior designer.
Libby was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Mull, her son Bill Gathings, brothers, Ed Duncan and Andy Duncan and her parents Lloyd and UL Jones Duncan. She is survived by daughters, Lynn Klinner (Robert) and Laura Johnston, her son, Steve Gathings (Marie), and stepsons, Bill, Joe, and Mike Mull, sister, Virginia Howells, and sister-in-law Margie Duncan, 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Libby will be laid to rest next to her husband in a private family burial at Southern Heritage Cemetery. Many thanks to Ridgewood Health Services and Kindred Hospice for the loving excellent care given to our mother in the last few months. Services are under the directions of Ridout’s Valley Chapel in Homewood.
