Of Birmingham, Alabama, died on July 20, 2011. She was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, on June 5, 1951 to Margaret Marshall Riddler and John Garth Riddler, M.D. Predeceased by her parents and brother, John Garth Riddler, Jr., she is survived by her beloved three children, Rachel, Robert, and Lizzy Lichenstein; her half-brother, Birnie Harper of Naperville, Illinois; and stepmother, Janice Axelrad Riddler of Jackson, Tennessee.
Libboo grew up in Jackson, Tennessee and graduated from Mary Baldwin College. She received post-graduate degrees in early childhood education and gerontology from Vanderbilt University and University of Southern California. Her good fortune to work and live in Washington D.C., San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York City, Houston, Moscow, and San Antonio, plus move to her favorite city, Birmingham, blessed her with remarkable friends whom she dearly cherished.
While in Birmingham, Libboo very much enjoyed her volunteer work with the Service Guild and the UAB Palliative Care Center. In addition, she relished time spent with the Amaranth Club, Forest Park Supper Club, Forest Park Garden Club, EFM and K&C.
Though her time on this world was shorter than she would have preferred, Libboo was thankful beyond measure to God for a life filled with love, learning, miracles, and adventures. Her children were her greatest gifts and she treasured the years they had together.
In addition to thanking her friends and family for their extraordinary care, Libboo wanted to express her deep gratitude to Kenneth Olson, MD, Marion Webb, Dr. Penny Njoroge, Dorsalle Welch, Scharita Dunn, Ethel Hicks, Geraldine Washington, Mrs. Will Holmes, & Bob Lichenstein.
