

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 19 at 10:00 AM at a Memorial Mass at St Paul’s Cathedral in Birmingham, for Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Sutton who died on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 in Birmingham. She endured a long three year bout with complications of a brain tumor.
The Very Reverend Kevin Bazzel, Rector and Pastor of St. Paul’s Cathedral will be the Celebrant of the Memorial Mass.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth. She is also survived by her parents, Frank and Lois Briscoe and two siblings, Frank T. Briscoe and Kay Briscoe.
Elizabeth Sutton was born on January 3, 1958 in Bay Shore NY. Her and her husband, an Alabama native, have lived in Florida, Vermont and Alabama. Prior to marriage, Elizabeth spent several years living and working as a professional violinist and music teacher in Europe. Education included a violin performance degree from Manhattan School of Music. She later completed a masters degree in Theology and Catechetics from Franciscan University of Steubenville. After many years of religious education experience, she was made Director of the Office of Religious Education for the Diocese of Birmingham. She worked on a variety of projects including the Catechetical Institute dedicated to the teaching of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
The family requests that visitation be observed at St. Paul’s Cathedral on Friday, September 18, 2015 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Her Choice of Birmingham.
