Ellen E. Nix

Ellen E. Nix, age 85, of Birmingham, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023. Ellen retired from the Birmingham Library, she loved reading and always read to and gifted her grandchildren with books and to this day most are very passionate readers. She loved spending time with her family, she loved camping, playing games, church activities and she traveled extensively.

Ellen loved singing and sang with the Valleyettes in High School, First Church of the Nazarene choir and for years she was very active in the church ministry, Solacon.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Monte Lovelady and Delmas Tate and great granddaughter Peyton Lynne Shaw. Ellen is survived by her son Wayne Nix (Joanna) and daughter Sherry Duncan (Ricky), her seven grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. Also left to treasure her memory are her three brothers: James Tate (Jeanine), Billie Tate (Hilda), David Tate (Dana), and her sister, Carol Byars (Ricky),

A celebration of life for Ellen will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2023 beginning at 11:00 AM at Ridout's Valley Chapel, 1800 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, AL 35209, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM.

Burial will follow at Crestveiw Cemetery in Adamsville.
