
E.E. "JACK" E.E. "Jack" Cavaleri, III was born in Birmingham, Alabama on February 19, 1931 to E.E. "Dick" Cavaleri, Jr. and Dorothy Steward Cavaleri, and died on July 27, 2013. He was educated in the Birmingham public school system, attending Barker and Norwood Elementary Schools and Phillips High School. He graduated with a B.S. in Geology from Birmingham Southern College, where he was president of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He spent two years in the U.S. Army before beginning his career in mortgage banking. He worked many years at Jackson Company, where he was Executive Vice President; was President at SouthTrust Mortgage Corporation; and Vice President of B.F. Saul Company, Chevy Chase, MD. He finished his career as Vice President of Byars and Company. His professional affiliations include American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers, President of Alabama Chapter; Mortgage Bankers Association of Alabama, past President; and Mortgage Bankers Association of America, where he served as Chairman of the National Committee. He was a member of All Saints' Episcopal Church, Monday Morning Quarterback Club, Poinsettia Men's Club, Newcomen Society of North America, and longtime member of The Club and Vestavia Country Club. He is survived by his wife, Ann Wainwright Cavaleri; two daughters, Dee Ann Cavaleri (Bob) Coffman and Laura Cavaleri Sappington; three grandchildren, James Sappington, Emily Coffman and Maggie Sappington; sister-in-law Dorothy Wainwright Oliver; brother-in-law David (Bonnie) Wainwright; as well as many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the many loving and caring staff of St. Vincent's Hospital, especially 1 South MICU and 5 West cardiovascular unit, as well as the nurses and therapists of St. Vincent's Home Health. Our love and thanks also go to Mary Taylor, his home caregiver. Visitation will be Monday, July 29, 2013 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ridout's Valley Chapel. A memorial service will be held at All Saints' Episcopal Church Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. followed by a graveside service at Elmwood Cemetery, The Reverend Jack Alvey officiating.
