She worked in retail in the 1960's in downtown Birmingham. She later worked in insurance with several property/casualty insurance companies and finally with a property management company.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Boyd Cooper Moss and Arie Isbell Moss. She is survived by her daughter, Chris Hudgins (Howard) and a son James Boyd Dodds, Sr. (Julia) along with a granddaughter, Elizabeth Emily Gover (Cameron) and a grandson, James Boyd Dodds, Jr.
The family wants to thank the hospice nurses, particularly Velvet for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, the family request that you hold a loved one close and consider a donation to the Greater Birmingham Humane Society at 300 Snow Drive, Birmingham, AL 35209.
A memorial service for Emily will be held Sunday, April 24, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Ridout's Valley Chapel, 1800 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, AL 35209.
