Evelyn Bell Andrews

Evelyn Fairbank Bell Andrews died peacefully on May 11, 2018 after a long illness. She was born in Jacksonville, Illinois to Gertrude and Cleon Bell. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Osa Lamar Andrews, Jr., sons Osa Lamar Andrews, III, John Fairbank Andrews, daughter Frances Andrews Robins and grandson Todd Robins. She is survived by her daughter Virginia Andrews Blackmon (John), Calera, Alabama and her daughter-in-law Patsy Andrews, Birmingham, her grandchildren Ashley Blackmon Nellis (Jake) Tampa, FL; John Talmadge Blackmon, Jacksonville FL; Lindsay Blackmon Harrell (Trey), Mobile, AL; Kathryn Norwood Andrews (Hans-Peter Thomas), Los Angeles, CA; Carter Martin Robins, Chicago, IL; Emily Frances Robins, Nashville, TN; great-grandchildren Hope and William Nellis. Lynn attended The College of William & Mary. It was here that she met her future husband, Andy, and they later married after the war on December 29, 1945. They moved back to Birmingham where they raised three children and were members of All Saints' Episcopal Church. She served on a variety of ministries including the vestry, altar guild, and pastoral care. Outside of the church she was an active Kappa Kappa Gamma alumna, served on the board at St. Martin's in the Pines and ministered at Balm of Gilead. She was a voracious reader, lover of music and a fabulous cook. She will be remembered for her positive attitude, elegance and loving spirit. The family would like to thank everyone who cared for Lynn these last few years, especially the kind people at St. Martin's in the Pines. A celebration of life will be held for family and friends on Monday, May 14th at All Saints' Episcopal Church, 110 W. Hawthorne Road, Homewood, Alabama 35209 with visitation at 2PM followed by a memorial service at 3PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to All Saints' Episcopal Church, Camp McDowell or St. Martin's in the Pines.
