went to be with her Lord on Sunday, November 3, 2013. She was born December 15, 1930 in Memphis, Tennessee. She grew up in Dallas, Texas where she graduated from Highland Park High School. She attended Randolph Macon Women's College then moved to Birmingham, Alabama where she graduated from Birmingham Southern College.
Mrs. Bromberg was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Howard Brooks and Evelyn Payne Brooks and her sister Genie Brooks Wilson.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Frank Wallace Bromberg, Sr., her daughter Evelyn (Lyn) Bromberg Chappelle, and her sons Frank Wallace Bromberg, Jr. (Annette), Charles Louis Bromberg, IV (Danice), and Eugene Brooks Bromberg (Patty). She is also survived by her eight grandchildren Evelyn Brooks Chappelle Wellmon (Chad), Scott Chappelle (Leighton Anne), Jennifer Bromberg Joseph (Taylor), Katherine Bromberg Futrell (Matthew), Amy Bromberg Garner (Jason) , Abigail Bromberg, Hannah Bromberg, Maddison Bromberg, and twelve great grandchildren. She is also survived by her nephew James Edward Wilson, Jr. (Teresa).
Evelyn was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church where she and her husband Wally taught Children's Sunday School for many years. She was a leader in Women's Community Bible Study of Birmingham, a member of the Junior League of Birmingham, Argus Study Club, and a Co-founder of Lilies of the Valley Garden Club.
Her greatest joy was 'Camp Bongoo' which she held each summer at her lake house for her grandchildren and grandchildren of her close friends. She taught and encouraged them in etiquette, moral values, and life skills, all while having great fun in a camp atmosphere modeled on Kickapoo Kamp for Girls which she attended as a child in Texas.
Evelyn's Christian influence on her children, grandchildren, and all of the other children she touched was her greatest calling and her finest achievement.
Graveside service will be Thursday, November 7, 2013, 11 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery.
