Frances "Bee" Newman Morris September 27, 1937 February 21, 2023 Frances "Bee" Newman Morris was born on September 27, 1937, to Frances McNeil Newman and Henry Hardin "Zipp" Newman, who preceded her in her death. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Meredith Newman Looney. She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Walter Fowlkes Morris, and her four children, Walter Morris Jr (Cory), Henry Hardin Morris (Betsy), Francie Morris Deaton (Ogden), and Duncan Taylor Morris. She is also survived by her thirteen grandchildren: Frances Newman Deaton, John Hardin Morris, Ogden Shropshire Deaton, Jr. (Taylor Anne), Ann Hollon Morris Schaffeld (Thomas), Henry Haynes Morris, Carolyn Morris Collier (Forrest), Walter Tucker Deaton, Caroline Wakefield Morris, Duncan Taylor Morris, Jr, Walter Fowlkes Morris III, Taylor Lee Morris, Frances Louise Morris, John Fowlkes Morris and great-grandaughter Nancy Ellen Schaffeld.
Bee grew up at the Cathedral Church of the Advent. As an adult she was an active member of St Luke's Episcopal Church and later St Peter's Anglican Church. While at St Luke's she was the Altar Guild Chair and President of ECW. She also organized and stitched the needlepoint kneelers that fill St. Luke's pews today. Bee went to Mountain Brook Elementary and Shades Valley High School. She was a member of TKD Sorority. She attended Hollins College and graduated from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, where she was a member of Tri Delta sorority. Bee had a servant's heart and was an active member of her community, serving as the Head of UAB Women's Auxiliary for many years. She was a member of the Women's Committee of 100 for Birmingham, the National Society of Colonial Dames of America and the state of Alabama, The National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution, the Little Club, and Maskers' Dance Club. Most of all, Bee enjoyed spending time with her extensive family and volunteering in her community. All who knew her could tell how important her faith was to her. Her many nieces, nephews and grandchildren describe her as a model of loyalty and tenderness and a devoted wife whose loving marriage was exemplary for all. She was elegant, patient, and always faithfully showed up. The family would like to thank Benita Faye and our caregivers Terry Haygood, LaShaun Williams, Annetta Eldridge, Mia Harris and Kamilah Robertson, who loved and cared for her so well.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 am followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 on Saturday February 25th at St Luke's Episcopal Church. Family graveside to follow. Memorials can be sent to Kings Home or St Luke's Foundation.
