

QUINN, FRANCES DRENNEN Frances Drennen Quinn of Birmingham, Ala died peacefully on Monday July 30, 2012, at the age of 84. She was born on December 8, 1925 in Birmingham and was the daughter of Frances Johns Drennen and Charles Nabb Drennen. She attended Stephens College in Columbus, Missouri and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She was a member of the Birmingham Junior League, a former member of the Birmingham Country Club and a present member of Sam's Club. A talented flower arranger, Frances was active in the Rockbrook Garden Club and dearly loved her garden. She was a wonderful cook and an avid bridge player who participated in several weekly bridge groups for many years. She spent many memorable summers in Highlands, NC. Her love for the North Carolina mountains grew from the summers she spent as a child at camp Merrie Woode in Sapphire, NC. Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Waldo Quinn, Jr. and her sister, Ann Drennen Murray of Birmingham. She is survived by her children Katharine Quinn Golden (Bill) of Darien, Conn., Ralph Waldo Quinn, III (Babs) of Birmingham, Nabb Drennen Quinn (Etta) of Atlanta, GA and Carolyn Quinn Brittin (Randy) of Birmingham. She is also survived by her grandchildren Katharine Wasnick, Tarver Perry, Elizabeth Quinn, William Golden, Lauren Cooke, Charles Quinn, Drennen Quinn, Elizabeth Golden, Garland Quinn, Rachel Britton, Rebecca Britton and 4 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Children's Fresh Air Fund or the Camp Merrie Woode Foundation will be much appreciated.
