

Born in Birmingham, Alabama, Frances was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Leonard. She graduated from John Carroll High and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. After graduating from UAB, Frances became a dental hygienist.
Frances was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, the Our Lady of Sorrows Peace Guild and Knitting Circle, Birmingham Beautification Board, Birmingham Symphony and Orchestra Women’s Committee. She was a PTA member, substitute teacher and teacher’s aide at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School. In 2000, Frances retired from Parisian after 20 years.
Frances will be remembered for her faith and determination.
Frances is survived by her daughters: Laura Ricker Nichols (Tony), Gabrielle Ricker and Gina Ricker McNeil (Michael), and one son, David Ricker. She had six grandsons: Gregory Nichols (Sharon), Patrick Nichols (Aimee), Benjamin Ricker (Cinthia), Zachary Ricker (Sydnee), Nicholas McNeil and Owen McNeil. She had eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 1st at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 1728 Oxmoor Rd. Homewood, Alabama. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Frances’s internment will be at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama.
