Gertrude Louise Cox (Lou as she was known by friends and family) was born in Fordyce, Ark. on April 13, 1934. She passed away July 8, 2015, in Birmingham, Ala., from complications suffered from congestive heart failure.
Lou married the love of her life, Robert Don Cox of Hope, Ark., in 1956. Don passed away in 1974 and Lou never remarried. She is survived by daughters Donna Cox of Atlanta, Ga., and Beverly Crider and son-in-law Kyle Crider of Helena, Ala.
Lou loved animals and the family asks that anyone who would like to send a memorial make a donation to an animal rescue group of your choice in lieu of flowers.
A small graveside service is planned at Mt. Nebo Cemetery in Hempstead County, Ark.
