

Gloria Bourgeois Laborde of Birmingham, AL passed away on July 7th, 2013 at the age of 91. She was born to Eva Marchand Bourgeois and Alex Bourgeois, Sr. on March 21, 1922 in Baton Rouge , LA. She graduated from Our Lady of the Lake Nursing School in Baton Rouge and joined the Army as a nurse during World War 2.
She married Ruvine “RJ” Laborde in December of 1947 and moved to Birmingham shortly thereafter. Gloria worked for 20 years as a nurse at The Eye Foundation while raising 3 sons.
She was preceded in death by her parents Eva Marchand Bourgeois and Alex Bourgeois, Sr.; her husband, Ruvine Laborde; siblings: James Bourgeois, Dorothy Knobloch and Marjorie Langlinais, all of Baton Rouge.
Survivors include brother, Alex Bourgeois, sons, Richard Laborde of Woodstock , VA, Michael Laborde (Jennifer) of Birmingham, AL, and Paul Laborde (Dianne) of Birmingham, AL, grandchildren, Celeste Laborde, David Laborde, Emily Laborde Hines, Keith Laborde, Madelyn Laborde, and Brian Warwick.
Gloria led a full and wonderful life. Her last 8 years were spent doing what she enjoyed most, participating in exercise classes 4 days a week and swimming on Saturdays at The Lakeshore Foundation.
