

Harold Bowman Blach, Jr. of Birmingham passed away peacefully on Monday, the 13th of December 2021. He was 90 years of age. Harold attended Ramsay High School and graduated from Riverdale Country School (New York). He attended the University of Pennsylvania and graduated from The University of Alabama in 1955. He entered the US Air Force & reached the rank of Captain. He was the Fourth Generation President of Blach's, which was founded by his Great Grandfather, Julius Blach in 1885. Julius had 5 sons, one of which was his grandfather, Max Blach, Max had 1 son Harold Sr.(deceased) & Harold Junior was his son. He was pre-deceased by his mother, Alice Wilzin Blach. Harold Junior was President of Blach's from 1959-1988. He married Joan (Joanie) Baim (deceased) of Pine Bluff, AR and was married 44 years and raised 3 amazing children. Harold is survived by his wife of 18 years, Nancy Pickard Humphrey, from Montgomery, AL. He is also survived by his sister, Alice (Blach) Diamond (Staten Island, NY); her children, spouses and grandchildren; and brother-in-law Ken Baim (Hot Springs, AR), his children, spouses and grandchildren. Also survived by his children Kit (Rick) Roth, Lisa (Andy) Weil and grandchildren Drew (Lauren) Weil, Amanda (Kevin) Sokol, Dustin (Lollie) Weil, Richard Roth, Jason Roth; four great grandchildren Campbell Weil, Sloane Weil, Evie Sokol and Charlotte Sokol; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was also preceded in death in 2015 by his son, Harold III (Bo). Harold served on many boards to insure a better future for our community – including Vestmark Chairman, MailSouth Chairman, Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and Birmingham, Baptist Hospitals Foundation, President's Cabinet at The University of Alabama, Board of Visitors, College of Commerce, University of Alabama National Alumni Association – VP, Board of Trustees & Chairman of ZBT at University of Alabama, Better Business Bureau – President and Chairman, Racking Horse Breeders Association of America – Co Founder, Birmingham Nascar Banquet Chairman, Birmingham Kiwanis NFL Exhibition Games Co-Chairman, Cahaba Truck and Equipment, Cahaba Capital, Alabama Spay and Neuter – Co Founder. Harold was so proud to be a part of several member organizations; Monday Morning Quarterback Club, Founding member of Pinetree Country Club, Kiwanis of Birmingham, Red Elephant Club, 1st and Ten Club, The Club, Willow Point Country Club, Lake George Fishing Club, and Temple Emanu-El.
